  • What is Indic Language Internet?

    Indic Internet means "Internet in Indic or local language of India" i.e. Indian Scripts and Languages. It involves developing software in Indic Scripts/languages, Input methods, Localization of computer applications, web development, Database Management, OCR, Spell checkers, Speech to Text and Text to Speech applications etc. in local Indian languages. The availability of content in regional languages can boost Internet penetration, enabling to bridge the digital divide and boost the socio-economic development of the country.

  • Why FICCI-ILIA?

    It is estimated that Indian language internet users will grow to 536 million as against 199 million English users by 2021. Therefore, socio-economic development in a multi-lingual nation like India lies in the growth and proliferation of regional language content so that services and information are shared in the language that the user is most comfortable in. Organizations, both private and public, have identified this need and have been contributing both in-terms of generating content and enabling content, but in a disparate nature. For any industry to grow it is pertinent that disparate people and knowledge sources are effectively marshalled into structured communities that share common practices and knowledge bases. FICCI-ILIA aims at bringing together content creators, content generators and content enablers to ideate, innovate and advocate the importance of looking at Indian regional languages as a game changer for the economy and the power of a unified voice to enable that change and growth.

  • Who is eligible to become a member of FICCI-ILIA?

    In the first year of the Alliance, registration of members will be by invite based on the following criteria: Organization who:

    1. Are in the business of enabling or generating content in any 1 or more regional languages can be a member
    2. Are working in indic publishing for at-least 1 year
    3. Are registered in India or working in India for at-least 1 year

  • Can I still register if I have not been invited?

    In case you are interested in joining FICCI-ILIA please send us an email in the official ID mentioned on the website expressing your interest and mentioning a brief background of your organization, the kind of work you do, why you want to be a member and your contact details. Our team will get back to you to take the process forward.

  • How do I register for FICCI-ILIA?

    Any eligible organization, whether by invite or when FICCI-ILIA approves an expression of interest, can download the membership registration form, fill it up, sign it and send it to the official FICCI-ILIA email ID. Alternatively you can also fill up the online registration form.

  • Is there a membership fee?

    Membership is free for all in 2018. We will update the website if there is any change.

  • Can I participate in FICCI-ILIA events even if I am not a member?

    Please send us an email in the official ID mentioned on the website expressing your interest and mentioning a brief background of your organization, the kind of work you do, why you want to participate in the event and your contact details. Our team will get back to you with a decision.
