- Interactive session on AI driven Voice Assistant /interface for service delivery through UMANG , 4th October, 2018
Unified Mobile App for New-Age Governance (UMANG) is a common, unified platform and common mobile and web application to facilitate single point access of major Government services through mobile. To ensure greater reach and e-participation by citizens, UMANG wants to enable support for voice-based interactions with the end-user especially for people who are less educated, visually impaired or prefer using vernacular languages.
The UMANG division of National E-Governance Division (NeGD) organized a half-day workshop and brainstorming session with leading technology and product experts on October 4, 2018 at Electronics Niketan Ministry of Electronics and IT, New Delhi. The objective of the workshop was to understand the solutions available in the market so that requirements are finalized for a Proof of Concept (POC) for actual deployment of ‘AI based Voice Bot/Assistant’ for UMANG to provide a voice interface to a larger section of users.
FICCI-ILIA is constantly working with MeitY and other government bodies to facilitate greater collaboration with relevant industry players to ensure G2C services reach every Indian to fulfill the dream of JAM trinity i.e; Jan Dhan Yojna, Aadhaar and Mobile Governance.
On the basis of the discussion, NeGD will devise an approach to do a PoC with one or more solution providers on simple query-based services. FICCI-ILIA is working with UMANG team to devise PoCs to facilitate integration of Indic language solutions on UMANG platform.
