The FICCI- Indian Language Internet Alliance (FICCI-ILIA) participated at Annual General Meeting ICANN63 at Barcelona, Spain with the objective to establish business and policy advocacy collaborations in the area of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), Multilingual Generic Top- Level Domain Names (gTLDs) and integration of Universal Acceptance (UASG) principles to enable a Multilingual Internet for Indians across the globe.
Currently, the domain names industry in India has witnessed a strong growth, but the internationalized domain names registry rates are still low. With rising demand for online Indic content, IDNs are becoming a necessity. Hence, FICCI-ILIA through this representation met many technology giants and global domain names industry players to understand the challenges in adoption and support the cause of IDNs at a global platform. This representation helped to establish FICCI-ILIA as the “go-to” industry body for the global language technology giants to work in India in the area of language technology software development.
