- FICCI-ILIA Marathi Conclave, 2019
About Event:
With the internet and smartphone revolution in India and rising aspiration among the masses, India’s internet is about to spiral into one of the largest segments in the world. 400 million new consumers will be using the internet for the first time and none of them will be English speaking.
However, the problem is that less than 1% of the total content available online, is available in Indian languages. This is a problem as much for the common man as it is for technology companies that are trying to build products for the public. Also solving the challenges for monetisation and distribution of vernacular content, is still largely looming unsolved.
Changing this reality by working with all stakeholders to bring more content online FICCI-Indian Languages Internet Alliance, is organizing the Marathi Conclave on 6th May, 2019 at JW Marriot Hotel, Pune from 10:00 AM onwards. The seminar will be supported by Rajya Marathi Vikas Sansthan (RMVS), Government of Maharashtra and other important stakeholders.
The industry conclave will have discussion around various trends and technology shifts taking place in the Indian language technology ecosystem, and charter roadmaps required for more favourable government policies for the industry to grow, keeping in mind the language complexities and dynamics. The objective of the conclave is to analyse the reasons for monetization gaps in the Indic content on digital space, and what measures should be taken for greater push to Indic language publishers to publish online.
The Marathi conclave supported by Vernac Language Technologies as Technology Partner and CITLoB as associate partner.
